Product Validation Engineer required by our automotive client for a 6 month+ contract.
The position is "hands-on", completing product validation and verification tests, including specifying and designing appropriate test procedures, building and setting up test equipment, carrying out product testing and producing the necessary reports and documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities
* Setting up tests including designing and building test jigs and fixtures, metal and plastic work, wiring and soldering
* Completing environment, life, EMC, destructive, product characterisation, validation and verification tests
* Product testing and data collection both in a laboratory environment and on working vehicles
* Liaising and working with external test houses and certification bodies.
* Designing and specifying new test procedures
* Generating test documentation including test reports and specifications.
* Specifying test equipment and components

Required Experience
* 2+ years experience as an electro-Mechanical Engineer in an R&D laboratory or product development environment
* Experienced in specifying, designing and performing verification tests
* Experienced in working to set test procedures and generating test reports
* Experience working in an environment with dangerous voltages
* Experience in soldering and wiring
* Experienced in using lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes, meters, current clamps, data loggers * Experience in interpreting electrical schematics and mechanical drawings

Preferred Experience
* Familiarity with and testing of low voltage electric motors and/or inverters
* Familiarity with EV, HEV and testing to automotive standards
* Life and reliability testing
* Limit defining and destructive testing
* Environmental testing
* EMC testing
* Laboratory software programming (LabVIEW, etc)
* Working in an ISO9001 environment
* Working in an automotive quality environment

Education
Engineering associated degree (Manufacturing or electro-mechanical) or at least an
HNC/Tech Level IV or above in a related technical discipline.
