description Development and maintenance of installation and deployment scripts for software applications (Windows Installer - MSI, LANDesk). Virtualisation and packaging of software applications (Microsoft SoftGrid). Maintenance of a repository that
collects all the information regarding scripts and developments that have been delivered to production. Supporting of software distribution systems (this can require the development of specific procedures and tools to facilitate the distribution).
Provide support for the developed scripts and SoftGrid packages across the Commission's computing environment (problem diagnosis, resolution and reporting via the Central Help Desk). Providing support with the development and 2nd level support of
reference configurations (desktop, laptop, PDA, server, terminal server). Creation of product evaluation studies (e.g. concerning product evaluations or the deployment of applications). Development of technical documentation (compilation of user guides,
documentation of procedures etc.). Project management: problem understanding, specifications, flowcharts program analysis, development, testing and maintenance (to create installations scripts and related utilities) preparation of project descriptions,
functional specifications, technical specifications. writing technical documentation activity management and reporting team management reengineering / tuning of the development process flow Qualifications University (bachelor) degree in relevant domain
or equivalent Experience Minimum of 5 years IT experience Minimum of 2 years relevant IT experience Knowledge and skills Proven experience in the abovementioned tasks is essential Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems family (Windows
Vista Enterprise and Windows XP Professional, Windows Mobile 2003, 5 and 6, Windows Server 2003 Enterprise) Good knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, Dial-Up networking, VPN), Windows networking and the Active Directory (Group Policies etc.) Good knowledge
of the MS Office 2003 and 2007 suites Knowledge of Windows installation and deployment tools Familiarity with software distribution tools (e.g. LANDesk) Good knowledge of application virtualisation and the Microsoft SoftGrid technology Good knowledge of
the Microsoft installation technologies (e.g. MSI) and of related tools (e.g. InstallShield) Expertise in software production and management and in software documentation and reporting Familiarity with common Microsoft scripting languages (e.g. VBscript,
