Description
What’s Up Interactive seeks an Android developer for a 6-month period to develop a configurator application for a market-leading company.
The successful candidate must have a deep understanding of Android core concepts with a focus on pragmatic design that includes custom themes, styles and attributes. UX experience for Android applications is integral success criteria for producing quality design and user flow. Experience in layout hierarchies, optimizing, refactoring and debugging views is a must. Understanding of JSON and RESTful API interaction is a key component of achieving success in the build out of this application.
Experience with source control management such as SVN or Git is expected on this project.
The successful candidate will have already completed and published applications in the Android market (Google Play Store or Amazon App Store), so when you apply, please include links to apps you have developed and published.
Primary responsibilities
- Responsible for analyzing requirements, determining technical approach & technical design, determining effort, and providing deliverable dates for projects and enhancement requests
- Collaborating with technology team members to design and develop web application and data processing functionality
- Extensive knowledge and experience building for Android 4.x
- Experience integrating with an API & syncing data
- Knowledge regarding local storage of assets retrieved from remote locations
- Experience with interactive, multimedia presentations and layout
- Ability to give feedback to design team regarding best practices and best approach for implementation
- Ability to implement designs provided by design team
- Additional responsibilities include documenting product functionality, supporting QA and deployment activities, troubleshooting production defects
- Use analytical skills to deal with requirements and/or issues that may be loosely defined and the ability to further manipulate and expand on them
- Design and implement new application functionality, including ground-up product development
- Work with technical lead to design and implement solutions
- Develop and implement testing strategies
- Create low-level implementation specifications and documentation
- Create estimates of development tasks
Required job skills
- Extensive experience with Android stack (Java, Eclipse, and Android SDK)
- Object-oriented programming experience including designing and implementing application architecture
- Strong background in mobile application, web tier and middle tier development
- Understanding of additional front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery
- Has knowledge in working with Rest API’s, JSON/XML and consuming these services in Android
- Understands and has worked with Android compatibility libraries
- Understands and has experience with multi-view/multi-fragment applications in Android
- Knows and has authored integration and unit tests with Android
- Have worked with source/version control software
- Experience with JavaScript libraries (jQuery)
- Experience with W3C standard & browser compatibility best practices
- Ability to comprehend and implement detailed project specifications
- Strong problem solving skills required
- Excellent proactive communications and planning skills
- Portfolio of development work, online desired
Preferred job skills:
- Experience with iOS stack (Objective C, XCode IDE, Interface Builder, and iPhone SDK) is a plus but is not required (an iPhone version of the app is also being built)
- Existing approved Apple App Store app
- Experience with Microsoft .NET 4.0, WCF and ASP.NET MVC
Other:
BSCS or equivalent degree or experience
3-5 years of professional experience with Object-Oriented Programming
At least two years of android application development experience
At least one published application
