SUMMARYThe Systems Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for sourcing relevant instrument and implant system requirements; including prototypes, pilot production and full launch quantities for new product development as well as previously launched products. This position will play a critical role in new product development teams by ensuring instruments, implants, and related components are procured through qualified sources and are delivered within set schedules. This position will also facilitate communications with the supplier as an extension and partner. The Supply Chain Specialist will assist with Supplier selection and will monitor performance based on quality, delivery and lead-time metrics. Duties will also include working with the Operations team members to ensure communication of needs to suppliers and internal operations are accurate and timely. Position is also responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving systems, data metrics, processes and communications to improve customer satisfaction and drive standards of excellence throughout the supply chain. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plans, initiates and monitors open purchase orders to ensure timely receipt and optimal inventory of all products to meet cycle time and inventory stocking requirements while maintaining target inventory turns.
  • Supports cross functional project teams in new product development and life cycle management of existing product lines.
  • Responsible for negotiation of pricing & delivery as well as supplier selection and management.
  • Ensures consistent, high level performance of subcontract suppliers to delivery schedules, commitment and performance based on the terms and conditions of the negotiated contracts.
  • Develops and maintain a good working relationship with major suppliers in order to assure the implementation and completion of the production plan.
  • Defines procurement strategies, implementation of alternative procurement sources to ensure the long-term, cost effective supply.
  • Drives cost reduction efforts by coordinating design for manufacturability feedback between suppliers and R&D.
  • Develops and manages returns to vendor process and returns to vendor reconciliation.
  • Analyzes market trends to determine subcontract sources, material costs, availability and lead times; disseminates information to key staff members.
  • Assists in the management of inventory levels, schedules and availability of selected items, either manufactured or purchased, to meet production schedules.
  • Interfaces with manufacturing personnel, planners and company management on material status and production planning issues.
  • Provides various reporting/metrics regarding inventory levels, spend analysis, cost savings, and forecasting.
  • Manages inventory risk, obsolescence, write-off and scrap processes to minimize costs throughout the supply chain.
  • Establishes and manages financial budget for inventory buy plan.
  • Provides liaison services between various departments within the company and our suppliers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Working knowledge of MRP (Materials Requirement Planning) software
  • Excellent communication skills required to communicate effectively with all levels both internal and external.
  • Self-directed, self starter that possesses ability to prioritize multiple projects and works independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Must possess solid analytical skills in forecasting (planning) and anticipating production needs and capabilities.
  • Computer literacy applied to scheduling and data management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCECollege Degree and a minimum of 5 years experience in a Buyer/Planner role, preferably in a medical device manufacturing environment. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSCPIM Desirable
