Description

The primary role of the Employee Benefits Communication Specialist is to create and execute employee benefits communications to support various employee benefits project implementations taking place. Health, welfare and retirement plan communications are included.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Write, edit, and revise content for employee benefits newsletters, plan change summaries, enrollment guides Summary Plan Descriptions and employee educational meetings;
  • Utilizing the resources of existing plan vendors and carriers, design standard communication materials and templates which are appealing to employees and retirees;
  • Manage work assignments, communications plans and campaigns, as well as project plans and timelines;
  • Support the benefits office staff in responding to inquiries, concerns, and requests regarding communications and other matters;
  • Manage external vendors to ensure they complete their work on time and within budget, and meet quality expectations;
  • Coordinate with internal communications departments to ensure available internal communications support and services are maximized, and that all communications efforts meet CI standards.
  • Coordinate employee information and educational meetings, develop content for meetings and facilitate meetings as needed;
  • Develop and maintain processes for organizing and storing communications.

SKILLS

The ideal candidate will have strong writing, presentation and project management experience. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 3+ years experience in creating corporate communications, and developing employee communications materials (eg, booklets, newsletters). Excellent writing and editing skills (eg, grammar, punctuation, word usage); Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills; Strong organizational skills and strong attention to detail; Solid project management skills, including managing multiple timelines and project plans simultaneously; Excellent decision making and problem solving abilities; Ability to work well independently and as a team member; Ability to multitask and successfully operate in a fast-paced work environment; Ability to develop creative ideas and think "outside the box" while retaining focus on the overall organizational objectives; Ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines; Ability to follow through on and successfully execute tasks while adhering to specified quality standards; Proficiency in use of PC such as keyboard skills and electronic folder/file organization and management required. Aptitude for learning internal systems, applications and internal work flow of the department and section. Must be able to effectively interact and deal with people at all levels inside and outside of the company. Experience in creating and developing employee benefits communication is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Visio knowledge a plus.

A background working for a creative agency, in journalism, and/or corporate communications environment is desired, as well as strong knowledge of human resources with a focus on employee benefits.
