IP Operations Engineer

Our client is a large telecommunications company looking to recruit an experienced IP Operations Engineer to join their team. This is a contract position located in Dublin city centre.

Key Responsibilities:

To be accountable for all support activities to support the customers networks, domains and systems

To deliver reports and documentation in line with incident management process

To effectively manage the trouble ticket queue to ensure sufficient resources for incidents

Provide Out of Hours support/On Call support as per rota for operational issues and escalations.

To deliver change requests in line with change management process, ensuring sufficient notice and CR approval

To monitor the network and carry out regular and planned preventative maintenance programs

Identify all operational risks and ensure they are logged and an action plan in place for each

Support a high performing culture whereby team management and members understand targets and the importance of meeting them in order to provide a positive customer experience

To work on technical activities for their managers or sponsors independently with minimal guidance. This may involve working alone or as part of a wider project/support team, managing specific tasks.

To define and deliver Minor Functional Changes to support customer requirements

To liaise with the design team to fully understand in-life support requirements post project implementation

To provide in life support and management of new services delivered by the design team

Qualifications/Skills:

CCNP/CCIE certified

MPLS Network background (Desired, but not essential)

Multiple routing protocol knowledge including BGP, OSPF routing

Radius knowledge

Mobile Packet Core GGSN, SGSN, RNC, RAN knowledge would be an advantage

Comprehensive knowledge of Routers, Switches and Firewalls

Basic knowledge of 2G, 3G or LTE mobile communications would be beneficial

Scripting and programming eg UNIX/Linux would be an advantage

Significant professional experience with IP Networks
