My client is seeeking a Search Analyst to join their team to look at develop better methods and results for searching on internal data.

This role will be based on an initial 3 month contract with a likely extension. This role will manage my clients search capability to provide a positive user experience whilst defining and implementing a forward enhancement program. This requires proactively applying up to date expertise with search tools and practices to define, apply and refine the direction, relationships, contribution practices, information structures and search scope and settings that align with the information retrieval requirements of the business. This will involve establishing and maintaining partnerships with other members of the Information Management Centre Team, IT and the business.

The main area's of responsibility include: Defining direction and enhancement option in regards to search; manage IT work requests and settings; consulting to optimise structures, contribution practices, collection management, guided search and user competence. Monitors, assesses, reports and takes action to improve on the performance of search, user behaviour and ultimately the user experience through timely qualitative and quantitative analysis Administers and maintains search in consultation with IT in the context of security, patch/release level, service levels and capacity As the subject matter expert and in consultation with other members of the IMC Team, develops, disseminates and supports standards, guidelines and training that is used by content authors and owners in optimising information accessibility/retrieval Engages with and provides advice to content owners around search terms, categorisations, taxonomies etc that improve user competency and experience Is the subject matter expert and IMC lead in the development and implementation of forward improvement plans and solution roadmaps for Enterprise Search in the broader Information Management Context. Monitors technical performance and maintenance program of the system to identify the need for intervention or corrective action by IT.

In the context of continuous improvement and problem management: Ongoing monitoring at agreed frequencies of search metrics including content author compliance against metadata and collection standards, reporting of usage and user behaviours, analysis of metrics with business and IT representative and review of standards, guidelines, collection structures, search settings and search performance.

Skills and Experience Required:

Relevant tertiary qualification together with extensive experience in search solutions and methodologies Knowledge of information architecture - collection structure, search settings, metadata etc - as it pertains to enhancing information retrieval systems and practices in a large organisation Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills together with knowledge of the frameworks and change management methodologies
