My client, a global insurance company based in the city is currently recruitong for a MI analyst/BI developer to join their team.
The job holder will be responsible for the development and support of the entire Microstrategy platform.
The role requires the job holder to have in-depth technical knowledge of the business process and the market as well as a good understanding of the data warehouse and the structure of data contained within it.
The role is primarily business technical oriented but there will also be the need for the job holder to get involved in the technical aspects of the warehouse and other applications that may use the Microstrategy platform.
The role will involve direct contact with Business Representatives and Focus Groups where necessary to ensure that the requirements and analysis undertaken as part of the warehouse project is unambiguous and that the deliverables are accurate and timely.
The role will also require communication and presentation of Microstrategy functionality to senior management within the Group.
There will also be frequent occasions when the job holder will have to run education sessions for end-users.
AREAS OF FOCUS:
Microstrategy Platform Management:
Design of the Microstrategy logical schema to reflect the structure of the business based on the data warehouse schema.
Full administration of the Microstrategy environments across all sites to ensure that they are all kept clean and usable for all developers including the management of the promotion of new or changing objects through the change control life cycle.
Acting as a core Microstrategy centre of competence for all users within the Group.
Coordination of Microstrategy development resource in conjunction with the BI Manager to deliver the required reporting functionality on time and to the required standard.
Overseeing the change management process
Development of new reports and BI solutions as requested by the business users
Modelling of new metrics and attributes into the MicroStrategy Project
Data Warehouse Development:
Analysis of all enhancements and new work required from the data warehouse to ensure that the data will be modelled and presented correctly with technical intervention in the data warehouse development cycle when required.
Development of any Microstrategy functional Tables, Stored Procedures or any other objects required for the successful implementation of the Microstrategy platform across the Group. Specific responsibilities will include the design of aggregate and lookup tables for use by the platform.
Management of the report developers to performance tune the Microstrategy platform through the design of data warehouse indexing strategies and aggregation tables, based on the SQL generated by the reports.
Business Analysis:
Liaison with Business Representatives to ensure all the requirements are within the scope of the Data Warehouse phase and the company information strategy, including the appropriate business analysis when necessary.
Liaison with business representatives to ensure that the definition of the Microstrategy objects are consistent throughout the Group and facilitate simple reporting for the end-user community, including the management of the end-user data dictionary through use of Microstrategy functionality.
Production of technical design specifications and operational support guides for use through development, implementation and support
Analysis of requirements for any aspect of the Data Warehouse and supporting applicationS.
