Description

We're a small team on a mission to transform the Christian Church from a top-down organization to a flat community where people can minister to one another directly — effectively, being the church to one another. We are developers, designers, and product people passionate about using our talents to make the world a better place by blessing the Church with excellent technology. Our goal at the end of the day isn't to turn a profit or make the shiniest toys; rather, to use our resources to empower people to fulfill their spiritual calling in life. See more at http://tableproject.org.

2013 is an extremely exciting year for the Table. We were acquired by Gateway Church [1] in May of this year. Gateway’s desire is to expand the Table and give it away for free to churches around the world indefinitely. We’re putting incredible resources and energy behind the Table this year as we scale, build a whole new set of features (e.g. a brand new set of native mobile clients), and reach new heights (like hitting the 1 million prayers [2] milestone in July 2013).

We are looking for a solid web generalist with an emphasis on improving our ability to test our code. Technical skills are hugely important, but are definitely second to our mission. We think our work is a pretty unique opportunity, and we're looking for someone who is as excited as we are to be able to work on this every day! We work as a distributed team where we are most comfortable, and are deeply committed to maintaining a healthy work-life balance. We want to see you thrive in all areas of your life.

Our ideal candidate will have:
  • A deep, personal love for the Christian Church
  • Experience working on web applications, the bigger the better
  • Experience with automated testing (e.g. PHPUnit) and testing paradigms (e.g. unit, integration)
  • Experience with mobile development is optional, but a plus
  • Knowledge of PHP and an MVC framework like Zend
  • Familiarity with the Unix / Linux command line
  • Ability to teach other developers about automated testing

  • In addition to base salary, we can offer:
  • The ability to work from home or wherever you do your best work
  • Reasonable, life-compatible hours
  • The opportunity to work with a team of passionate, talented people at the top of their game
  • Lots of opportunity to grow in your mobile development skills
  • Annual retirement plan contributions
  • Full medical/vision/dental insurance
  • A very forward-thinking work environment where you can shape your own future

  • How to apply?
