Position Summary

This position involves technical leadership of small engineering team(s) developing electronics for Proteus' wearable sensors and other products. These projects typically involve sensor interfaces, a proprietary wireless interface, a micro-controller, and a Bluetooth radio. Responsibilities include developing the project plan, designing the architecture, design implementation, and design verification. Electronics design is one part of an inter-disciplinary product development effort involving materials science, algorithms, mechanical, electrical, and software engineering.

Key Deliverables


  • Full-cycle, board-level electronics design.


  • Develop and maintain project plans and schedules.


  • Lead internal resources and manage external resources as required to complete a project.


  • Develop equipment and methodologies to support design verification, reliability testing, and production test.


  • Evaluate and analyze product performance to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational guidelines.


  • Create product development documentation to support regulatory filings including: Technical Files for UL, CE and FDA (510(k), IDE, PMA) applications.


  • Other duties as required.


Experience Profile

  • Senior engineer and contributor with 10 or more years total experience including 3 or more years experience in medical device development covering the entire product development cycle; including design for and transfer to manufacturing.


  • A driven, individual contributor and project manager.


  • Previous experience in the start-up environment is desirable.


Educational Requirements


  • Engineering college graduate in applicable field such as electrical engineering or equivalent.


Technical Experience:


  • Low-power board-level digital design - microcontrollers, DSPs, programmable logic etc.


  • Low-power board-level analog design with a focus on data acquisition and signal conditioning.


  • Use of simulation and modeling tools: Spice, Verilog, and/or Matlab.


  • Firmware development: C/C++, Assembly


  • RF communications design experience
