GeoSigns Service Engineer wanted for our end client in The Hague!

Duration: 12 months, with option to extend

The GeoSigns Service team is accountable for the services of nDI (Seismic interpretation), BPA (Basin Modelling) and GEMS (HC Volumetrics). During Q4 2013 and through 2014 the GeoSigns Service team will participate in Project and on boarding activities for the next generation release of GEMS - GEMS2.
As a result they are looking for a highly skilled resource with strong SSW Application knowledge, good understanding of underlying technologies/Infra with the ability and skills required to work directly with and as part of a project team. You will then be required to take ownership of operational duties throughout and after handover to operations.

Immediate activities will include: acting as TPL to assist with the POC technical implementation of GEMS2, support project activities with both SSW and infrastructure knowledge, ensure a smooth transition into the operational team.

Further activities will include: continuous improvement for service and support delivery of GEMS2, training the existing operations team, maintaining best practice and technical documentation and service mgmt based activities (ITIL) - Ensuring all IRM (Information Risk mgmt) requirements are met - Daily tasks will also include incident, problem and situation management with emphasis on operational excellence.

Responsibilities:
Ensure Project requirements and proposals are both manageable and realistic based on SSW Application and Infrastructure Knowledge.
Ensure project activities and outcomes are smoothly transitioned and on boarded/supported within the operations team.
Act as Subject matter expert for GEMS2 during and after project transition to support.
Provide operational GEMS2 IT support and ever greening activities, with focus on day to day incident management on performance, recovery and incidents.
Work in Tandem with a number of service and development teams to provide guidance in effective use of GEMS2 systems, products and service processes and tooling.

Key Accountabilities:
Ensure all technical and procedural documentation with regards to GEMS2 is up to date, visible and maintained.
Ensure all service mgmt requirements and information risk mgmt requirements are met ie assets are fully detailed and related.
Deliver a robust and efficient service in line with agreed SLA's and business requirements
Identify improvements to service and applications landscapes with clear value add and benefits
Work closely with GEMS2 application teams to ensure new releases and related initiatives remain well documented, secure and compliant with service needs
End-to-end monitoring and problem management across all technical areas.
Document, maintain and improve service performance metrics.
Plan and participate in global GEMS2 ever greening activities (release management & deployment, security patches, application upgrades).
Ensure Assets are correctly detailed and kept up to date to include dependencies and other integrated services
On boarding (technical, support model, finance) of new GEMS2 projects and functionality into operational service.
Contribute to successful GEMS2 project delivery within agreed time and budget.
Translating customer requirements into infrastructure design and managing component infrastructure provider's delivery on new requirements.
Represent GeoSigns service team in all aspects of service delivery scope to users, stakeholders and support teams
Other service requirements including nDI and BPA activities.

Key challenges include:
GeoSigns GEMS2 is the next generation release of GEMS and is closely tied to the BPA application, also releasing BPA2 as a framework for GEMS2.
The Infrastructure has yet to be defined and technical requirements are being discussed.
You will need to quickly get up to speed as technologies are proposed, tested and then deployed.
In addition you will become the application support expert and will need to answer specific support questions on landscape (Infrastructure + application).
The GeoSigns portfolio is highly technical and comprises of nDI (Seismic Interpretation), BPA (Basin Modelling) and GEMS (HC Volumetric/reporting).
Each service has a global user base with differing levels of Landscape complexities covering Oracle, VWS, Linux, Vista and Storage.
Managing services under these conditions require specialized tools, skills and knowledge.
GeoSigns customers, development teams and stakeholders are distributed worldwide. This requires excellent communications skills.
The GeoSigns team is relatively small with accountability for a highly visible application set. In addition these applications are driven by highly competitive and progressive application teams. We need to ensure the users and development teams requirements are met without introducing risks to production environments.
The GeoSigns application suite is relatively new and pushes technologies, their use and associated ways of working. In addition usage is rapidly growing. Together these introduce additional risks and challenges which require quick thinking and understanding of how to remediate the immediate impact and the longer term potential impact.
Understanding the IT infrastructure and Business Support Models including partnerships.

Requirements:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or (or related discipline) from a recognized educational institute.
Strong affinity with the Oil & Gas industry. Good understanding of the Sub-surface area is required.
A good understanding of Windows/Linux applications, storage, oracle systems and networks including associated troubleshooting methodologies
Strong understanding of ITIL service processes and tools with the ability to think from both customer and service viewpoint
Strong communication skills - spoken and written. Able to communicate technical analysis to stakeholders and updates within the team alike.
Customer focused and pro-active attitude; enjoy customer facing, taking end-to-end responsibility.
Able to work with various specialized multinational support teams to bring complex requests or problems to timely resolution.
Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written. 
Highly motivated with good organization, communication, and team working skills.
Demonstrates ability to handle many tasks concurrently including negotiation skills
available to work through conflicting deadlines to reach agreement with clients in an amenable manner.
Very good generic IT Infrastructure skills covering Windows and Linux.
Excellent organizational and planning skills.
Knowledge of IT Project Management and service on boarding principles is desired.
Ability to share knowledge and experiences, willingness to adopt the ideas of others, while keeping abreast of new developments, recognizing technology gaps and knowing what the competition is doing.
Experience:
Ten to fifteen years IT experience relevant to Sub-surface applications.
Strong Project (TPL) skill set and the ability to systematically analyze technical problems
Strong Operational experience a necessity.
High level of experience in service management and delivery
Strong Proficiency on Linux and Windows platforms.
Some familiarization with the Kepner Tregoe methodology would be welcome.
Experienced Oracle Database knowledge.
Familiar with Enterprise IT architecture and concepts
