A financial services firm is looking for a new Development Manager to run a team of Java and .Net web application developers. The client is looking for a combination of cutting edge technical ability and strong management skills.This company is a well-established, international firm with over 30,000 employees. This position would be located at their technology incubator here in Chicago. This particular office prides itself on company culture and works in an agile, start-up style environment. The firm's clientele include some of the most prestigious Investment Banks Hedge Funds, and Fund of Funds in Chicago.
The development manager will be managing a team of 6-10 employees, and receive the title of "Head of Development". The role would be a 50/50 split of management/business responsibilities and hands-on development in a java web-based environment building financial applications.
Other responsibilities include:
- Managing more than 20 technical full-time and contract employees
- Working closely with internal IT Managers and Business Managers
- Work closely with outside vendors and clientele
- Manage and forecast budget needs and analysis
- Performance management and career development of full time employees
Qualifications for this role include:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
- A background in Java
- 5-7 years of experience with website applications
- 3-5 years of experience within the financial space
- Experience with the agile methodology
- Previous work as an architect is preferred
