Description
I currently have 2 urgent requirements for an IDMS Systems Programmer and an IDMS Application DBA for one of the World's leading Service Providers, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. These roles require consultants from data security and disaster recovery backgrounds.
Duties will include managing physical IDMS databases, designing and implementing back-ups, recovery, archiving, and conversion strategies. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining data definitions in all production and non-production databases and replication Servers as well as managing database distribution, security, and access requirements.
Successful candidates will design and develop logical and physical layers of databases; handle testing, reporting, back-up, and restores; provides technical assistance and mentoring to staff for developing conceptual and logical database design and the physical database.
Expectations are that you will recommend installs, and maintain database software; monitor performance and perform database training and assists application developers with train tuning efforts. You will design, monitor, and tune large/high volume DB2 IDMS applications to contribute toward the success of my clients' technology initiatives.
