Our valued client is seeking an experienced Network Engineer who is located in Hobart, Tasmania.

Network Engineer - Cisco, CCNP, design, VSX, Checkpoint, Juniper - Enterprise Environment 

The key objective of this role is to support my clients globally dispersed data, voice and wireless network and the services that depend on it. 

The role has a strong focus on design, planning and implementation of new services, however includes support and resolution of incidents. 

You will be required to liaise effectively with multiple 3rd party service providers and partners, delivering and supporting business and infrastructure changes and providing ongoing monitoring of live services. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

Monitor and support the network, providing support and analysis to other support teams to ensure that the services the business depends on that utilize the network are reliable and secure.

Troubleshoot problem areas as required, providing in depth network support to both support and project teams.

Working with 3rd party providers as well as the business in order to resolve any problems and come up with appropriate solutions to new requirements. 

Ensure network connectivity of all Servers, workstations, telephony equipment and other network appliances.

Manage and administer systems that relate to network management. This includes network monitoring and analysis tools as well as peripheral network services like DNS and DHCP.

Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.

Configure networks (including comms and voice) to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.

Oversee network elements resulting from new projects and services, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Administration of Firewalls, Routers, Switches and wireless.

Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports


Essential Skills 

Excellent network troubleshooting experience of at least 5 years in a predominantly Cisco environment. Solid switching and routing skills and experience supporting both Layer 2 networks, and a Layer 3 LAN that closely integrates with the MAN and WAN network using BGP, OSPF and EIGRP routing protocols to provide resilience. 

In depth knowledge of TCP/IP and experience in packet capture and analysis to identify root causes.

Skilled in Cisco and Checkpoint Firewall administration and management. Experience of ASA, FWSM, Secureplatform Firewalls in both virtual and physical implementations. 

Experience with wireless technologies, VPN (client and LAN to LAN) and DNS. 

Experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.

Experience in managing 3rd party suppliers, including placing, tracking and progressing new and/or upgraded network/comms components.

Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

CCNP - Cisco Certified Network Professional

or

CCVP - Cisco Certified Voice Professional

Working knowledge of both traditional Project Management (Prince) and Agile project methodologies

Business facing experience.
