ORACLE DBA REQUIRED

My client are a leading private sector organisation based in central Manchester are looking for an Oracle DBA who ideally has experience within the automotive industry.

The role will be offered on an initial 3-6 month contract paying around £425 per day.

The DBA will be required to, identify, research and provide recommendations for database architecture, operations, performance tuning and system alternatives. Assist data analysts with research requests and in determining the cause and extent of problems when they occur and make recommendations to improve processes.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

* Oracle DBA certification preferred.
* Knowledge and experience with Windows operating systems and TCP/IP.
* Good knowledge of ORACLE DBA administration, database tuning and recovery.
* Experience with PL/SQL development.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment.
* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
* Ability to identify, research and present technical solutions to management for action.

Responsibilities:

* Write, tune and monitor PL/SQL scripts to retrieve necessary information from databases in a optimal fashion.
* Review & explain plans for long running queries and provide recommendations accordingly
* Maintain Oracle Grid Control monitoring console to ensure all production systems are fully monitored and alerts/messages are configured appropriately and resolved.
* Monitor trouble ticketing system to ensure reported issues are resolved in a timely manner.
* Perform routine Oracle database development, planning, and coordinating, including base definition, structures, documentation, upgrades, long-range requirements and operational guidelines and protection
* Provide RAC implementation and support.
* Advises on and tests the following database related activities: troubleshooting, recovery, tuning of the database, user security, Perform RDBMS software installation and upgrades, resolving Oracle errors and failures and auditing activities.
* Develops and tests changes for the database and database environment in response to change requests generated by the appropriate management staff.
* Participate in semi-annual disaster recovery tests and participate in making recommendations for improving secondary site activation procedures.
* Participate in providing technical input to software developers and end users in the areas of hardware and database capabilities.
* Monitor all database activity for operational improvements to include, but not limited to; CPU, Disk and Memory utilisation, replication and consistency of all parameters across multiple sites.
* Help to manage access to databases to ensure corporate security practises are followed.
* Ensure all databases are backed up per Ops & Tech specifications.
* Participate in implementing changes into production environment per the change control board process.
* Provide level 2 & 3 technical support for complex database issues
