Senior Mechanical design engineer - GloucestershireThis company is currently recruiting within its technical department. With offices in theUK and US, they develop and manufacture innovative electro-mechanical devices.
This role is based at theirUKheadquarters in Gloucestershire and is the result of continued success, and sustained growth. The successful applicant will join a dedicated, established team of Engineers reporting to the Engineering Manager.
Primary Role:
- To lead the Mechanical Engineering Team.
- To design and develop mechanical aspects of electro-mechanical devices.
- To generate 3D models and 2D drawings.
- To build and test prototypes.
- To generate supporting documentation including specifications, test plans and reports.
- To collaborate with other engineering team members on development projects.
- To identify and interface with suppliers.
Skills
- Experience of using 3D CAD software. Knowledge of Solidworks would be of advantageous.
- Experience of producing detailed 2D drawings.
- Proven track record in electro-mechanical product design.
- Ability to work hands-on including prototyping and debugging.
- Experience in design for Manufacture/Safety/Reliability.
- Experience of conducting FMEA and Risk & Hazard Analysis.
- Team lead / Project Management experience.

- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Advanced communication skills, particularly describing ideas verbally and writing clear documentation is essential.
- Self-motivated and confident.
- Well organized.
- Attention to detail.
- Able to work to agreed timescales.
Education
- Mechanical Engineering degree or related Engineering/Science based degree.
Experience
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role, ideally in a regulated / safety critical industry e.g. Aerospace, Automotive or medical
- Experience of working in a quality/regulatory systems environment.
Salary up to £48,000 dependant on experience
