Description
A technology incubator, backed by a $10 billion a year company, is looking for a technical lead/ development manager to run a department of passionate technologists. The department will be responsible for all web service efforts for the firm's financial clients. This is a full time position located in downtown Chicago.The department is in charge of the Greenfield development of all customer facing web based applications. The team works in a Java J2EE environment, and prides itself on working with the latest technologies in a forward thinking, start-up atmosphere.
The role will be a 50/50 hands-on management position. The role will have 2-3 direct reports, each with their respective teams. All teams will be run using the Agile Scrum methodology, and previous work running teams in a Scrum environment is required.
The hands-on portion of the role will focus on code review, architecture, design and programming using Java J2EE, Spring and RESTful web services. As this is a web focused team, experience with web-based applications, web portals and the building of UIs and APIs is expected.
Responsibilities for this role include:
- The direct oversight a multiple-team department that focuses heavily on web applications
- Day-to-day management, career management and review of multiple employees
- Programming, Design and Architecture of all development projects
- Running of the Agile Scrum Methodology
Qualifications for this role include:
- 5+ years experience with Java J2EE
- 5+ years of experience building web based applications
- 2-4 years of experience with Spring
- 2-4 years of experience with RESTful web services
- 2-4 years of experience in a leadership role, with direct oversight of employees
- Recent hands-on programming experience
- A passion for technology
