About the Role
This company is seeking an experienced Network Support Engineer , working on a client site responsible for supporting and maintaining WAN, LAN and VOIP networks for an International client within the financial investment banking industry.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Network Troubleshooting
- Initiate, Implement and Support Problem/Change Requests
- Engage equipment and service vendors that support network operations;
- Interface with client by responding to client requests and notifying them of network problems and the impact on customer's business and
- Interface with vendors as needed on client's behalf to resolve network issues.
Skills and experience
- Advanced WAN troubleshooting/problem determination (Frame Relay, ISDN, ATM, and Private Line);
- LAN troubleshooting/problem determination (Ethernet, VTP, Token Ring, HSRP);
- Advanced knowledge of Cisco and/or Nortel Router troubleshooting/problem determination and maintenance
- Excellent understanding of routing and routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, etc.) and
- Advanced understanding of TCP/IP. Unix user skills.
Desirable experience around the following devices:
- MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) experience
- VPN (Virtual Private Network) experience
- VOIP (Voice Over IP)
- IPT/Call Manager/Unity
