Description
We are searching for a candidate to work in the IT Operations Center as a Midrange/Unix Systems Administrator. This IT Unix Administrative role will support a 24x7 environment that hosts the company's critical Applications and Oracle Databases. The environment includes Solaris, HPUX, Linux and AIX. This position is a day time Monday thru Friday from 7am to 3pm position with overtime and weekend/holiday hours possible.Primary Job Duties:
- Primary responsibility is managing the availability of the IT Server environment. Responsibility for the monitoring and restoration of the Company Infrastructure following documented processes.
- Open tickets and escalating them to the appropriate vendors.
- Responding to Incident tickets and assigning priorities.
- Ability to follow documented processes.
- Perform diagnostics to remediate detected/reported server HW/OS incidents
- Perform scheduled configuration changes (SW/HW).
- Work with groups within IT Infrastructure and IT Applications in resolving problem issues.
- Document alarms and process for use by other analysts within the Network Operations Center.
- Must be flexible with O.T. and possible shift changes to cover for vacation/sickness.
- Maintain/update ITOC standard operating and escalation procedures, personnel contact lists, and other ITOC documentation as directed by ITOC leadership.
- Prepare IT network and systems performance reports and operating statistics as directed by ITOC leadership.
- The Senior Level Midrange Server Admin should be fully capable of performing independent actions associated with best practices in architecture, deployment, support, troubleshooting, and inter-operability of current Midrange server operating systems and primary Server Side applications.
- A minimum work experience of 5+ years of UNIX administration - must have a solid understanding of Unix
- Experience with Rack & Stack
- Experience with Solaris, HPUX and Red hat Linux OS and Hardware.
- Good to have: Wintel, VMWare, NetApp, Veritas
- Working knowledge and familiarity with Windows Platforms )
- Knowledge and experience with AD, DNS, DHCP
- Working knowledge of Active Directory and group policies
- Candidate must have experience and demonstrate strong troubleshooting and problem isolation skill when working in a large complex distributed IT environment.
- Ability to compile operating data/statistics and prepare performance reports
- Experience with Corporate Security best practices
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite
- Familiarity with change management practices in an IT operating environment
- Familiarity with IT network security practices
- Ability to work with internal IT clients of varying abilities
- Ability to prioritize tasks
