A global pharma company is recruiting for a Director of Statistics. This role requires is responsible for developing the biostatistical strategy for the Biostatistics group infectious disease unit and its implementation. The role will include managing a team of highly experience statisticians and programmer as well as consultative statistics work.
Responsibilities:
  • Plan, develop and implement long-term statistical strategies for the Biostatistics group Early Phase group and provide guidance on Its implementation.
  • Coordinate resource planning for the Biostatistics group EP
  • Supervision and management across location activities including staff assignments, quality control of project deliverables and timely delivery of project deliverables.
  • Become a key member in project bids, including client presentations and business review meetings.
  • Implement process improvements, in conjunction with the Management team and Quality Management Group, in response to client and team feedback and quality audits.
  • Drive the harmonisation of Biostatistics SOPs and oversee training material
  • Provide senior oversight on ongoing projects to ensure quality, delivery and ongoing client satisfaction
  • Maintain a positive, results orientated work environment, building partnerships and modeling teamwork, communicating to the team in an open, balanced and objective manner.
  • Participate in formal staff review processes e.g. performance and salary reviews to corporate standards and timescales.
  • Provide direct line management/support/mentoring where appropriate


Qualifications
  • Typically a MSc/ PhD degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Biometrics, life science or closely related field
  • Relevant work experience with supervisory experience to include Biometrics within a CRO or Pharmaceutical company
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, e.g. communication and presentation skills to clients, management, and staff
  • Planning and organizational skills including the skills necessary for implementing strategic, operationally-driven change
  • Understanding of regionally-driven clinical development budgets and relationship to productivity targets
  • Knowledge of regional regulatory requirements and an understanding of international regulatory requirements for the conduct of clinical development programs
  • Thorough knowledge of effective Biometrics practices; good understanding of other functional areas
  • Good knowledge of the relationship and regulatory obligation of the CRO industry with Bio-pharmaceutical companies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example local teams on business strategies and achievement of department goals, objectives, and initiatives and to encourage team members to seek solutions
  • Ability to inspire effective teamwork and motivate staff within a matrix system
