Windows and Linux Support Engineer - 3-6 months

Windows and Linux Support Engineer / Window / Linux / Redhat, Windows Server / Citrix / Activity Director

My client based in the heart ofBerkshireis urgently seeking Windows and Linux Support Engineer for 3-6 months contract with the potential to extend.

Ideally we are looking for a candidate with an academic background: MCSE, CCA, HNC or greater qualification, or equivalent working experience.

Key Skills for the Windows and Linux Support Engineer:

Linux:

- UNIX/Linux System Administration - 2 to 5 years experience

- Linux Red Hat; Enterprise Release (or similar)

- Veritas Netbackup (or similar)

Windows:

- Windows Server

- Windows 7 64Bit

- Citrix XenApp6

- Active Directory

- GPO

- Experience of packaging Applications using Wise/Altiris software would be a benefit

Hardware:

- Knowledge of HP Servers, HP Workstations and HP laptops.

Responsibilities for the Windows and Linux Support Engineer

- Call logging and active first fix troubleshooting

- General support and administration in a large networked environment including fully integrated thin client environment of predominately UNIX/Linux systems, with Windows Server 2008 and Citrix XenApp6 fault finding, problem resolution, including HP Workstation related issues

- Providing support for users to agreed service levels, updating incident management system and setting client expectations

- Technical advice/assistance to other support groups and teams; co-ordination of technical projects/change requests.

- Development of associated documents and procedures

- Identifying Network issues, plotting and printing and reporting to the Response Desk team lead where appropriate

- Other duties as assigned by Management
