My client, a industry leading medical device company in Illinois, now has a fantastic opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer on a contract to hire basis. This is an initial six month contract with the intention to convert to a permanent role after the six month contract period. The rate for this position is between $30 and $50 per hour dependent on experience.

My client is leading in their field and is looking to build out it's world class manufacturing ability. The medical device manufacturing engineer will play an integral part in bringing new products to market. The role will include part and process verification and validation, plastic part design including manufacturability, tooling/fixturing, electromechnical design including the analysis and manufacturability and the implementation of lean manufacturing processes.

The successful candidate must have the following skills and experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Experience in engineering, shop floor, manufacturing, product release/introduction
  • Part and process verification and validation
  • Direct experience/knowledge of plastic part design, manufacture and selection required
  • Process capability analysis and management required
  • Prior ERP/business systems knowledge, experience and acumen from a manufacturing perspective required
  • Warehouse exposure/experience strongly preferred
  • Tooling and fixturing experience strongly preferred (hands-on: designing, optimizing and maintaining.
  • Electromechanical design, analysis and manufacturing capability required, experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated practical applications and working knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and associated activities strongly preferred.
  • Ability to apply Quality tools and techniques to solve problems and make continuous improvements (DFMA, PFMA, SPC, Gauge R&R) required
  • Strong machine/machinery/automation design, operation, troubleshooting and optimization skills need
  • Medical product or regulated environment experience strongly preferred
  • CAD experience
