I am currently looking for a waste engineer for an initial 12-18 months contract based in Cumbria.

Scope of Work:

To support and/or lead the delivery of project tasks associated with technical services and waste projects.

Specifically to:
  • Expert review and approval of technical and waste management plans and supporting documentation;
  • Review and expert evaluation of waste processing and disposal solutions for VLLW, LLW and ILW
  • Author, review and acceptance of BPEOs/BPMs, and waste management strategy documents;
  • Author, review and approval waste-related safety cases;
  • Author, review and approval of technical supporting documentation to underpin waste strategy decisions / business cases;
  • Author, review and approval of bids and proposals through identifying strategies, developing submittals, and providing proposal text, diagrams, etc;
  • Travel to customer locations, ancillary offices and project sites to support technical and waste related engineering tasks.

Responsibilities:

In line with the overall scope of work highlighted above, key responsibilities lie in the following areas:
  • Author, review and approval of technical advice and waste plans;
  • Contribution to development of bids and proposals; and,
  • Contribution to business development initiatives.

Personal Qualities
  • Ability to identify, outline and communicate technical details;
  • Ability to write text to meet regulatory, proposal, and other technical needs;
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment;
  • Self-start on assigned tasks and meet deadlines;
  • Progress tasks independently;
  • Ability to manage subcontractors; and,
  • Recognise challenges and barriers to success and communicate those to appropriate team members and manager.

Experience

At least 10 years of directly applicable work experience in the nuclear and/or environmental assessment sector
Education and Qualification Requirements:

Engineering and/or Environmental Studies degree or equivalent level of education / experience; post-graduate work and professional accreditations desirable
