DESCRIPTION:

Develop various applications and provide programming support for business and custom operations support systems.  Maintain existing applications and upgrade applications to utilize new technologies.  Provide interfaces to other division systems to share operational and business information.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for supporting AS400 applications using RPG programming to assist with MAPICS XA Manufacturing and related systems.
  • Analyze, develop and implement solutions using current system programming language, new and/or rewrites of large applications: develop and preparation of these program applications.
  • Evaluate proposed changes in existing applications, recommend procedural modifications to obtain increased efficiency, simplifications, completeness and carry out approved changes.
  • Writes detailed description of user needs, program functions and steps required to develop or modify computer programs.
  • Coordinate with potential and existing user details of applications: resolve problem functions, and steps required developing or modifying computer program.
  • Responsible for other similar or associated duties necessary to accomplish job requirements in an effective manner.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Management REQUIRED
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in AS400 RPG, CL, SQL programming in a manufacturing environment
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MAPICS XA iSeries applications (IM, AP, GL, MRP, PU, PDM, REP, CAS)
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with AS400 operations/communications, PC's with client access
  • Ability to quickly develop new system strategies for changing business requirements
  • Ability to prepare written user instructions and technical documentation
  • Ability to analyze instructions, data and test results with attention to detail
  • Ability to convert specifications into programs (iSeries - RPG, CL, SQL)
  • Ability to gather and analyze facts, define problems and devise solutions
  • Must be able to take a project from beginning to end 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, but under direction of direct manager or project manager
