Environments Administrator

My client is a leading global insurance brand and they are seeking an Environments Administrator on to join a busy development team.

The Environment Administrator will be responsible for ensuring that there is effective governance and control for all change implementations affecting the application and that the impact of any change, be it part of the project or core technology driven, has been assessed to ensure the service provided by the Test facilities and release processes has not been compromised.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Installation & configuration of hardware & software changes in the Test environments, working with the Release Administrator who will deploy the core code.
  • Act as the prime contact point for environment problems/questions.
  • Log issues raised, analyse the issues, manage to resolution and keep the customer notified.
  • Support the Release Manager in improving the effectiveness of the system delivery process, environment stability and reducing live service issues and risks.
  • Other activities assigned which fall under the Environments Administrator role

Person Specification

  • Successful, proven experience in similar function or role
  • Experienced in the technical implementation of key business applications through Test and into Live Service
  • Hands on experience with integrated multi tier financial business applications in a busy working environment
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Operating Systems; SQL; including utilities for performance monitoring, network usage etc.
  • Ideally newer versions of MS OS and use of Active Directory from an applications perspective
  • Understanding of source control and tools
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
