Control & Instrumentation Engineer

I am currently looking for a C&I engineer for a Renewables client of Huxley Associates in Somerset.
Job Responsibilities include:

* Maintaining and upgrading existing C&I systems
* Design, specification, procurement and commissioning of the next generation C&I system and ensuring compliance with all relevant industry standards and health, safety and environment legislation
* Coordinating with engineering, project and contractor teams to deliver project requirements safely, on budget and to schedule
* Working with third party verification bodies to secure design certifications
* Creating C&I system design specifications, commissioning and fault-finding
* Operation and configuration of DCS, PLC and data collection & storage systems
* Tender appraisal, equipment and supplier selection
* Interfacing and managing contractors both on and off-site

Essential Criteria for Candidates:

* Either a time served apprenticeship in a C&I discipline, supplemented by either an HNC, HND or equivalent, or a degree or equivalent in Control or Electrical Engineering
* Proven ability to reach practical, cost-effective and safe solutions
* Excellent attention to detail
* Ability to use initiative and demonstrate creativity
* Excellent communication, numeracy and written communication skills
* Computer literate and familiar with IT hardware
* Ability to work in a team

The successful candidate will have the following experience:

* Proven experience of working with control and instrumentation systems
* Extensive experience of DCS/SCADA and PLC configuration and programming
* Instrumentation process engineering and/or electrical generation within the renewable or oil and gas sector, or within a similar industry
* Ability to demonstrate an innovative approach to investigating and introducing new C&I concepts
* Application of all relevant industry standards covering electrical and control system installations
* Experience in site commissioning and operational activities and associated safe systems of work
* Experience in project management, including controls, planning and estimating and preparation of deliverables/work package
* Experience in instrumentation and measurement systems, marine grade instrumentation and multiplexers, equipment and acceptance testing and data transmission media including fibre optics, coax and screened twisted pair
