Business Systems Analyst/Solution Architect
Function Description:
The Business Systems Analyst/Solution Architect will work with business leaders to understand business requirements and converge multiple existing processes. They will then apply their knowledge of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence to define, design and develop enterprise solutions which are focused on improving specific business processes. These solutions will position the organisation as a world leader in the use of Business Intelligence to optimize business performance. These solutions will deliver high value add with simplicity, efficiency, manageability and scalability,
This is a leadership role and therefore must possess the ability to understand and document business processes and as appropriate, influence process improvement.
Responsibilities
Plans and directs requirements gathering and analysis. Ensures that all requirements have been discovered and addressed.
Manages work independently with guidance on milestone dates provided by the Project Manager. Schedules and conducts requirements gathering sessions and helps to coordinate the review and signoff of deliverables. Provides status reports and contributes to work plan updates.
Provides expertise across one or more major Business functions in area of responsibility. Recommends ideas to solve business issues and add value and streamline processes which in effect contribute to the overall business domain's strategy.
Acts as liaison with IT, Quality Assurance and Business domains.
Understands the overall solution from End to End from a technical and Data perspective
Participates in continuous improvement initiatives either as a leader or contributor
Provide Data Warehouse Project Leadership and transform business requirements into long-term Data Architecture solutions.
Works with Development and Business team members to build appropriate data views and architecture.
Design new, and maintain existing logical and physical data models for components of Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), including Dimensional models.
Define the technical requirements of the solutions.
Design, implement, and optimize OLAP cubes.
Design and implement BI reports, dashboards etc
Responsible for architectural reviews of solution, including producing the necessary artefacts
Consult with DA, Infrastructure and Platform teams
Ensures Security of the solution
Keeps current with industry trends and latest thinking in order to provide sound and innovative solutions
Skills & Qualifications
Highly skilled technologist
Strong experience in an enterprise software development environment
Three years plus as a Solution Architect or Business Analyst, with experience in all phases of the software development cycle
Strong business focus. Must excel at connecting data to business information.
Expertise in delivering data warehousing and BI solutions
Experience in at least one of the following domains
o Customer Intelligence
o Sales Analysis & Forecasting
o Product Development
o Business Process Optimization
Expert knowledge of Dimensional Modeling, OLAP and MDX
Expert use of SQL and experience with relational databases
Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and able to meet deadlines
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
Experience building and maintaining relationships within a team.
Experience in gathering and documenting business requirements
In-depth knowledge of industry BI trends and latest thinking
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (eg, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics).
