My client are looking for a Chemical Engineer to join them on a short tem project whilst they build their permanent team up. It is an initial 6 month contract, but there is the possibility of extension.

You will work alongside the engineering manager and will have the following responsibilities:
  • The safe and efficient operation of the Plant
  • Compliance with Health and Safety Regulations
  • Compliance with all relevant Quality Assurance Procedures
  • Translation of plant modifications and designs from the desk top to the field
  • Training of staff on new/modified plant or changes in site procedures
  • Compliance with all Environmental Procedures.
  • Compliance with all Environmental Procedures.
  • Translation of plant modifications and designs from the desk top to the field
  • Training of staff on new/modified plant or changes in site procedures
  • To ensure that all Plant drawings are maintained & up to date.
  • The upkeep and review of all required HAZOP studies & safety review
  • Continuous Improvement projects
  • Energy improvement initiatives


Your duties will include:
  • Ensure efficient operation of production plants / equipment in conjunction with the Plant Manager .
  • To review our process technology and make proposals for improvements in Production rates, Environmental performance, Energy savings and Quality.
  • Ensure the site is operated in a manner conducive to good Health, Safety and Environmental Practices
  • To design new plants and specify equipment with concise drawings of requirements with the inclusion of documented operational guidance
  • Provide accurate costings for projects
  • To prepare reports on Plant performance etc. as required by Works Procedures and the Site Manager.
  • Support function associated with preventative maintenance systems
  • Support function associated with existing & new maintenance inspection regimes
  • Support function associated with Change Management system
  • Lead & co-ordinate HAZOP reviews
  • Lead & Commissioning of new installations
  • Training of operational personnel
  • Upkeep of the Technical Library
  • Support function associated with risk assessments & permit to work systems


What do you need?
  • Minimum B. Eng (Hons( IIii)) degree in Chemical Engineering
  • A minimum of three years experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment of COMAH status.
  • Project management leadership from initial design concept design thro" to installation, commissioning & handover
  • Batch/semi continuous distillation operations
  • CAD
  • Steam generation
  • Utilities
  • Permit to Work Procedures
  • HAZOP studies
  • Risk assessments
  • CAPEX budget control
  • Disciplined, self motivated & self starter
  • Familiar with PPM systems an advantage
  • Experience of consultation with various legislative authorities
