Connect44 have a new opportunity for a S12 SLM engineer.
This role is for a leading telecoms vendor and the role is to be based in Belguim on a 6 month renewable contract.
Our customer are seeking a highly skilled engineer for this role and all candidates must possess the skills below to an Expert level:

- Telecommunication Network Overview (platform independent)
- System Overview S12
- Operation & Administration: Subscriber-, Routing- and System data S12
- Administration of the SS7 Network Element S12
Location
- The on-site assistance service is delivered during normal business hours in Belgium.
- Main location will be Brussels
- Since the job will require on site interventions across Belgium, the candidate should have a car.
Duration
Initial period 6 months, extendable with another 6 months
Key Tasks
- Second Line Maintenance Network activities in Alcatel Lucent S12 PSTN equipment:
- Major part of the job will consist of configuring RSU and bringing RSU into service including:
- acceptance of the installation works,
- finalization and putting into service of the cabling/connections,
- configuration of the equipment
- testing & troubleshooting of the equipment
- activation of the equipment
- generation of activity and quality reports
Further tasks can include:
- Complex remote analysis and repair if the issue cannot be solved by first line repair
- Complex on-site trouble-shooting & replacement of hardware-equipments (like back-panels, racks, Message Buffer, Switching Network)

Knowledge and Experience
- Typically has experience in operation of the Alcatel-Lucent S12 switching platforms (preferably World Release 1A (pack 8)
- 5-8 years NOC/Telco experience
- Advanced knowledge of wire line PSTN Networks
- Advanced knowledge in compiling and handling of batch files
