In partnership with the company's executives, the primary duty of the IT Development Supervisor will be to coordinate, manage and guide the daily operations of our IT Department. This will involve supervising a staff of three Full time employees and managing a fluctuating amount of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors. In addition to managing our internal staff and vendors, the IT Development Supervisor will also manage all ongoing internal and external IT projects. The Project Management portion of the position will involve the development and implementation of new services, features, applications and advancements for our clients and staff. Additionally the IT Development Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating and managing any internal IT needs such as networking and server maintenance, database management, computer equipment maintenance and repair, and internal websites. We are looking for a candidate that can review and analyze our current IT procedures and practices and then develop and implement a logical methodology for managing our IT projects, needs and staff.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Lead strategic planning to achieve business goals by identifying and prioritizing development initiatives and setting timetables for the evaluation, development, and deployment of all company software development through a documented software development plan.
  • Collaborate with the appropriate departments to assess and recommend technologies that support company organizational needs.
  • Oversee the internal and external email service for the company.
  • Conduct code reviews and specification conformance testing as defined by the selected software development methodology (optional).
  • Supervise a quality assurance process, including integration and system testing.
  • Select, deploy, and monitor performance profiling tools and procedures (optional).
  • Monitor application performance and review any application failures in staging or production.
  • Establish and oversee the internal employee support programs through continued training, release announcements and Help Desk functions.
  • Ensure company technical problems are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure the company's internal technological processes and customer-facing services comply with community expectations and applicable laws and regulations for privacy, security, and social responsibility.

Education Requirements:
  • University degree in the field of computer science, business administration, or another rigorous discipline. An advanced degree in one these fields is a plus.

Ideal background and experience:
  • Managed IT personnel who are senior level, tenured, and have experience in their respective fields
  • Successfully managed project budgets
  • Experience using JIRA or a similar work management/project management system/software
  • Demonstrated ability to envision technology and software service applications that meet consumer needs or solve business problems.
  • Experience managing software development.
  • Hands-on experience coding in more than one currently popular software application framework.
  • Ability to discern user requirements and develop specifications.
  • Has contributed to one or more open source projects.
  • Familiarity with technical requirements of Internet marketing and search engine optimization.
  • Familiarity with information security vulnerabilities and risk management.
  • Familiarity with consumer privacy and payments industry compliance requirements.
  • Exposure to business theory, business process development, governance processes, management, budgeting, and administrative operations.

  • Project management credentials/certifications are a plus

  • Web design tools
  • Skill with CSS, XHTML, one or more Javascript frameworks, and AJAX.
  • Knowledge of web standards.
  • Experience with SQL system administration and web server configuration.
  • Knowledge of Internet protocols and RFC standards and database management systems.
  • Familiar with more than one software development methodology.
  • Microsoft Office (proficiency needed in Access, Word, Excel, Outlook)
