Tasks
The Systems Analyst is involved in the definition, analysis, design, testing, deployment, maintenance and operations support of information systems (IS).
The main tasks of the Systems Analyst include:
- Perform business case definition, system definition, feasibility and cost/benefit studies;
- Perform business and user requirements gathering, analysis and specification;
- Produce system design specifications based on system requirements;
- Produce technical documentation;
- Test information systems and advise the GSC on system acceptance;
- Plan and perform system deployment;
- Plan and perform user training;
- Provide (user) support;
- Follow-up other external contractor work and review contractor deliverables.
Education and certifications
Higher education is mandatory, complemented with minimum of 6 years of relevant IT experience.
Languages, protocols, standards and methodologies
Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience as Systems Analyst (system definition; business and user requirements gathering, analysis and validation; system design; technical documentation; system planning and follow-up).
More specifically:
- Java (Enterprise Edition)
- SOAP, SOA, Web Services
- HTML, XML, XSL, Unicode
- HTTPs, SSL
- UML or equivalent
Technical environment, tools and products
Mandatory:
- Apache and/or IIS
- SQL Server and/or Oracle DBMS
- Java IDE, Eclipse or equivalent
Desirable:
- Windows 2000 or higher
- XML Spy or equivalent tools
- Oracle AS and/or Tomcat Application Servers
Linguistic Skills
A good knowledge of English is mandatory. Knowledge of French is considered an asset.
