Firmware Engineer (Smart Meters/Zigbee/ZSE 1.2)

My client, a market leading smart metering company urgently require firmware Engineers with Smart Metering experience and/ or Zigbee and Zigbee Smart Energy experience.

The sucessful candidate/s will be responsible for Firmware development and debugging and will be required to:
  • Identify, acquire and share new firmware technologies relevant to Embedded wireless systems Participate in firmware design reviews and code reviews.
  • Develop and modify driver logic for ZigBee
  • Implement built-in firmware unit tests and analyse the test results.
  • Interact with Sales and other functional groups (eg, hardware design) and project management to prepare product specifications and test plans for customer approval


The successful candidate will posses the following capabilities:
  • Strong fundamentals with C and C++ programming in 8, 16 and 32-bit Real Time Embedded environments
  • Experience in developing firmware to ZSE specifications (ZSE 1.0, ZSE 1.1.x)
  • Experience mapping between protocols, and system integration of complex multi-product systems (prior experience in smart grid applications and utilities product requirements preferred)
  • Experience developing firmware for microcontrollers such as ARM or TI MSP430
  • Experience with Embedded Kernels and Real Time operating systems (experience with Embedded Linux RTOS a plus)
  • Ability to debug firmware by diving into the hardware (comfortable with lab tools such as debuggers, logic analysers and oscilloscopes)
  • Experience writing ultra low-power and low footprint applications
  • Knowledge of the complete product development process, including design and project definition, development, testing, and on-time execution
