DEPARTMENT:      Digital and Print Media

REPORTS TO:         Director of Digital and Print Media

Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG) seeks an experienced web manager for a four-month, part-time position supporting bbg.org and other digital projects. The successful candidate will be proficient with current technologies and be able to quickly assimilate BBG’s standards and processes.

The position is open for three days per week, onsite, from December 15 to April 15—some flexibility is possible. This is an hourly position with taxes withheld. The website manager reports to the director of Digital and Print Media.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce and maintain content for bbg.org and third-party properties.
  • Maintain consistency and quality of user experience.
  • Work with staff throughout the Garden (with varied needs and skills) on web-based projects.
  • Program and enhance web forms.
  • Maintain Garden’s Google adwords account.
  • Use analytics to track and report on user behavior.
  • Perform other related duties or special projects as directed.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in front-end management of web content
  • Expert knowledge of HTML, CSS, web standards and best practices, and cross-browser coding techniques
  • Excellent eye for clean layout and proficiency with design software (Adobe CS3)
  • Fluent knowledge of content management systems (Expression Engine preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills—oral and written; ability to set, meet, and enforce realistic deadlines; ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Flexible, team player, self-motivated
