Oracle Database & Storage Performance Manager - Our client, a major Financial Services company, is currently looking for an experienced Oracle Database & Storage Performance Manager with strong technical skills to actively manage the DB/Storage performance and throughput of strategic infrastructure platforms, such as Database Hosting Platform, Linux Platform and SAN & NAS.
Main Tasks:
- Define methodology and basic approach, select required tools and technologies
- Intensively collaborate with peer groups and experts in Application Development, Productions Support, Platform Integration and Engineering.
- Provide information and support to Operations, Application Development and Platform Integration - lead remediation actions in case of performance degradation or performance related system failure within the DB, storage (SAN/NAS) and backup environment
- Intensively collaborate and leverage existing Capacity Management function
- Support resource based application infrastructure profiling to determine current resource needs in addition to forecast growth. Optimise resource usage and performance by developing capacity management processes.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Expert-level knowledge and experience in the operation of clustered enterprise Database Environments (Oracle) infrastructure and storage.
- Very good knowledge and experience in all other relevant disciplines (Operating Systems, Application Platforms and Networks and Network-Protocols).
- Ability to lead and interact with SME's from different technologies and Application Development
- Able to analyze and to structure a complex situation in a shared (RAC aware) DB and storage (NAS/SAN) infrastructure. Able to take (immediate) actions and leadership in production outages (Major Incidents) and driving its remediation.
- Multiyear IT infrastructure operations background as technical expert, ideally in the field of performance management within Oracle (RAC) database platforms and storage integration.
- Dedication and passion for operational effectiveness and for managing & continuously improving service quality together with internal and external partners and suppliers
- Comprehensive knowledge of end-to-end IT operations and infrastructure landscape including knowledge of the following technologies:
- Oracle 10g/11g; Unix/Linux, VMWare ESX; Grid Control/Monitoring; RAC/ASM; Dataguard; RMAN; DB Tuning/Optimization; NFS Netapp; Veritas VM/CM; HDS/EMC Dynamic Tiering; PL/SQL, Java; Perl; Shell.
- High level of flexibility, energy and team spirit
- Fluent written and spoken English and German
