Project environment

The project will implement Volcker metrics within a Global Swiss Bank. The Market Risk IT Business Analyst will work closely with the business and IT stakeholders, project managers, delivery leads and other projects/programs distributed across region to specify requirements and related process changes for the implementation of IT solutions and coordinate UAT testing and business Roll-out.


Tasks

• Working on Market Risk requirements for the propose Volker Regulations with a focus on gap analysis for the required metrics.
• Operate with Market Risk Management and Reporting, Methodology and Front Office to understand and analyze the source data feeds requirements and review the proposed solution to ensure that it meets the requirements and complies with usability standards.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts from other delivery teams such as Reporting and Workflow in Risk IT and key people from Front Office, Data IT and Finance to ensure end-to-end data flows are incorporated in the functional design.
• Work with Risk IT Architects to ensure the architecture of the solution is fit for purpose.
• Cooperate with Software Developers to understand the front to back solution and any technical limitations.
• Working with Project Managers to prioritize and plan the delivery of multiple projects.
• Function with Quality Assurance staff to ensure the quality of the functional solution delivered.
• Collaborate with Rates, FX, Equity and Credit Product team and development team to understand the complex dependencies between the data flows from different source systems and functional requirements to propose solutions for identified gaps and issues.
• Contribute to the discussions on the overall Market Risk IT strategy evolution triggered by requirements due to changes in the market environment.

The Market Risk IT Business Analyst acts as a bridge between the business and IT organization, and provides a central contact point during the analysis, design, development, testing and implementation phases. You will be responsible for the business requirements, the functional requirement and analysis and design documentation. In addition you will be also responsible for ensuring data analysis and a “first line of defence” to identify issues and provide solution related to risk information provided by the front office.

Requirements

In depth knowledge of risk data processing concepts and business data content is required along with a broad knowledge across capital markets products. In addition a sound knowledge of complex IT architecture in the area of risk data management (staging, validation, transformation and publishing) is required. Exposure to reporting solutions based on very large data volumes (using Microsoft Analysis Server, Business Objects etc.) would round off this profile.

• University Degree in IT and/or Finance/Economics/Business Administration
• Have 5+ years in Financial Services and must have Investment Banking products experience.
• Strong Risk Management background, in particular Market Risk – GARP or PRMIA certification is a plus.
• Real world experience in working on large and complex projects in the area of Market and Credit risk spanning regions.
• Combination of business, product and technical knowledge, coupled with strong client-facing and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in English.
• German is a plus.


Technical skills

• Strong Business Analysis skills, including gathering requirements and writing functional specifications.
• Strong IT Architecture knowledge in the area of Risk Management to ensure proposed functional requirements can be met by the existing architecture and infrastructure.
• In depth knowledge of Risk Management process along with a broad knowledge across capital markets products.
• Experience with tools for business analysis, change and defect management
• Good relational database experience (Oracle) and Excel / MS Access skills
• Good data modeling and data analysis skills. Experience with reporting solutions like Microsoft Analysis Server, Business Objects etc.
• Experience in defining and executing test plans and managing defects and defect resolution
• Experience in driving IT strategy within a Financial Service company would be advantageous.
