Senior Service Delivery Specialist L2-3
Profile:
* Extensive knowledge of Sybase 12.5
* Extensive knowledge of Sybase Replication Server (version 12.6)
* Excellent knowledge of implementing Sybase on: (in decreasing order of importance)
Linux Servers (Red Hat 5.5)
AIX 5.2
Windows
Virtual environments (VMWare, LPARs)
SAN Storage (Raw Logical Volumes)
* Proficient in both OLTP configs (ERP systems), and in OLAP (Datawarehousing)
* Knowledge of using Proxy databases
* Good understanding of performance optimization (both on the storage level, as on the logical tuning level)
* Sybase Monitoring Server
* Sybase Backup Server
* Any knowledge of Oracle 10g/11g is a big bonus
* Any knowledge of Microsoft SQL2005 is a big bonus
* Level: Senior
Background for assignment:
* Customer is currently planning and executing a data center move
* Customer has its core ERP system running on Sybase, as well as the accounting software and the Datawarehouse environment. A number of smaller applications are also running on Sybase
* The Sybase DBA is needed to assist the migration team with the building and transferring these core database components
* Size indications:
Main ERP package = 250Gb
Accounting package = 220Gb
Datawarehouse = 1500Gb
Tasks:
* Assist and provision Database Transfers to the new Data Center as the project progresses (ongoing)
* Set up the necessary replication configurations. Athlon BE currently uses several replicated databases to facilitate a Data warehouse environment.
* The datawarehouse environment is fed through Sybase Replication Server
* This needs to be set up in the target data center
* Set and configure the target Sybase environment in the target data center
* Define the cutover strategy and help execute it during the migration weekend start of April
* Assist with ongoing DB changes that are needed to facilitate the move
* Target environment for Sybase will be fully virtual.
* Work on a 2K page size to 8K page size conversion - this is outside the project, but is a prerequisite and needs to be done as a separate track.
