Project environmentA Swiss private bank is seeking an individual System Engineer to assist current FX IT Team with profound basic knowledge and skills on server hardware and operating systems, infrastructure, networking, oracle database, programming UNIX shells and Perl. Furthermore trouble shooting and weekend software integration occasionally will be required.
Tasks
• Cooperation with IT sections network, firewall, Unix, operating, etc.
• System- and Network configuration of a global Murex MX3 system:
o Set-up and configuration of Systems (Linux Redhat Servers, Windows Clients, Grid Infrastructure)
o Connecctivity to Oracle Databases in close collaboration with a Database Support Team
o Network configurations
o Setting up Backup & Restore
o Setting up test environments and connect them to other environments Front to Back
o Maintain Archiving, Purge
o Provide solutions for disaster recovery and perform regular tests.
o Set-up scripts to run scheduled tasks (end of day)
o Set-up and maintain trade interfaces (Traiana etc.)
Requirements
Very good German and English, spoken and written
Technical skills
• Basics in server hardware and OSs:
o HP blade enclosure BLc7000 with blade servers BL460c Gen8, running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
o Topics: kickstart, start up, shutdown, yum, make, etc.
o Oracle server T51x0 and M5000, running Solaris 10
o Topics: start up, shutdown, live upgrade, etc.
• Basics in networking: Working knowledge of the concepts of layers, IP and routing, TCP and connections, NAT, firewalls
• Basics in programming: Working knowledge of Unix shells and Perl
• Basics in systems:
o Integration of applications distributed over a network
o Trouble shooting higher level issues on lower layers by means of e.g. strace, truss, snoop, tcpdump etc.
Must:
• 10+ years post collegiate work experience
• 5+ years of experience in financial Foreign Exchange industry
• Experience with FX-platforms (Fenics, Frontarena, Murex)
• Profound Foreign Exchange business knowledge
• Understanding of FX cash and FX option trading and its lifecycles
• Knowledge in Precious Metals and Base Metals trading and lifecycles preferred
• Adequate FX pricing knowledge (verifying prices of FX products)
• FX related Profit & Loss analytical know how
• Front to Back FX banking processes with an emphasis on FX trading and middle office
Nice to have:
• Ideally, the candidate has FX trading experience or a deep understanding of FX trading procedures
• Prior working experience with requirement gathering and user acceptance testing
