Located inLancashire, this fantastic role is for a highly successful company specialises in designing, developing and the manufacture of high performance moulded elastomer seals and rubber components for use in critical applications in industries around the world.

Due to the changing needs of the business, internal promotions and a large increase in projects we are now urgently seeking to an experienced and resourceful Applications / Design Engineer to join the expanding Product Development Department, ideally from a flexible, batch manufacturing background. Candidates with knowledge of the offshore renewable industry or oil and gas would have a distinct advantage.

Working within a committed Engineering team, the successful candidates will be responsible for new product development projects, from customer RFQ through commercial feasibility to product launch and production. The role requires familiarisation with a wide range of materials, including metal pressings, turnings, injection mouldings, rubber, plastics and polyurethane elastomers.

The successful candidates must be able to demonstrate the following;
  • Hold a minimum Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline
    • Possess a thorough understanding of 2 & 3D CAD packages, able to generate detailed engineering drawings preferably within Autodesk products
    • Experience in using project management software such as Microsoft Project
    • Have several years experience within a flexible, customer responsive batch manufacturing environment
    • Familiarity and experience with ISO9001 design and development procedures and requirements
    • Have excellent oral, written and presentational skills
      • Knowledge of FEA packages and their applications would be an advantage


Note: Occasionally, the Applications / Design Engineer may be required by the Company to perform other tasks which are not included in the above description, but are within the capabilities of the individual and where necessary training will be given.

An articulate and effective communicator, the Applications / Design Engineer should be a confident, proactive individual who can work in a customer facing and demanding environment.
