My client is embarking on an exciting new speech processing project within the mobile communications sector. As the first phase of this initiative, an excellent opportunity has arisen for a software engineer who will have responsibility for:" Taking a research algorithm designed in Matlab and creating a real-time demonstrator written in C which could later be ported to a mobile device. " Work with 3rd party partners and developers.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills are essential, as is the ability to work to tight deadlines. Experience in speech and video processing and real-time processing for mobile devices is highly desirable. Responsibilities: The main tasks you are expected to perform include:
1. Optimising research code, that has been ported from Matlab to C, for computational efficiency, within realistic memory constraints 2. Developing a real-time demonstration framework in C, including image capture and display with multithreading ? Skills and Experience:
Mandatory: 1. BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent 2. Detailed knowledge of C/C++ 3. Basic UI test framework for video capture and multithread development experiences on Linux or Windows 4. Experience in real time applications 5. Excellent debugging and analysis skills 6. Self motivation and the ability to work as part of a small team.
Highly Desirable: 1. Knowledge of video processing 2. Knowledge of OpenCV 3. Knowledge of Matlab 4. Knowledge of speech and audio processing 5. Experience of coding in Fixed Point C 6. Experience of coding in Java
The successful candidate will have excellent technical skills, and be able to communicate effectively within the team, working to ensure to ensure an effective solution is produced within the required timescales. The initial phase of the project will run for a further 2.5 months, with the possibility of a more extensive 1-2 year project on successful completion of all key deliverables.
