Employee Relations Consultant

Position Summary:

Consults with management (HP/H and TPMG) on Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action, Diversity, and Compensation issues. Ensures that all Human Resources practices are in compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, labor contracts and relevant statutes.

Education/License/Certification:
Bachelors degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources or Labor Relations or related field.

Masters degree preferred.

Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of Employee and Labor Relations practices.

Significant progressive Human Resources experience.

Working knowledge of Compensation practices.

Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

Effective communication and presentation skills.

Consulting and leadership skills.

Proficient with PC applications.

Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Strong Communication (oral and written), critical thinking/analysis, investigative, problem-solving, conflict resolution skills

Duties:
May function in a lead capacity to:
Work in concert with the HR Business Partner and Group Leader to develop appropriate HR strategies to meet service area objectives and goals.

Ensure effective collaboration, coordination and communication between HR functions by working with the HR Leader Group Leader and other functional leads (ie, Compliance/Disability Management, and Recruitment).

Assist HR Leader and Group Leader in oversight of ELR activities and work flow.
Under the general direction of the Group Leader, Employee/Labor Relations Consulting, consults with facility managers to provide expertise guidance in strategy development and execution, planning, and facilitation of labor and employee relations matters.

Facilitates resolution of labor grievances, disputes, employee issues and concerns; conducts investigations and coordinates arbitrations and litigations with NCAL Regional Labor Relations and Legal.

Develops and implements processes and makes recommendations to control cost/enhance efficiency or facility operations associated with the previous issues.

Works collaboratively with the area Human Resources Business Partner/and NCAL Regional Human Resources functions to ensure consistent application/interpretation of Labor Relations, Employee Relations, EEO/AA, Diversity, and Compensation policies, contracts, and strategies.

May coordinate and facilitate area Labor Management Partnership Committee and other joint labor/management committees and task forces.

Assists with planning, implementation and on-going maintenance of all Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action, Diversity, and Compensation programs.

Consults with salary decision makers on base salary determination and total reward and recognition issues.

Assists with education, communication, implementation, and training for all compensation programs.

Educates and coaches management on all Human Resources issues and practices. Collaborates with the HR Compliance/Disability Management Consultants on area compliance and disability management issues.
Travel Required: Yes. Will be redeployed as needed from Regional Employee/Labor Relations Consulting.
Standard Work Hours: Flexible, normally day-time. At times, may be asked to do investigations during off shifts.
