Front End / Mobile Developer

Description

We're looking for a web developer with Drupal experience who can customize an existing web site to work on mobile platforms. The person needs strong skills with css and html. If they have skills with php/javascript, great, but we can cover those if need be. The site is hosted on a Linux box, so they need some familiarity with Linux editors (not just windows/mac), this may be the hardest requirement to fill.

We will give you a password to the site once we determine the mutual interest in exploring the project in more detail (we are pre-launch currently). Once you have viewed the site in detail, you’ll have the opportunity to bid for the project.

Some facts about the site:

We are currently in pre-launch, so the site is not open to the public

The site has the following main elements: 1) basic CRM, 2) activity stream, and a 3) contact search/matching system.

The site currently has the following ~20 simple pages that need to be optimized for both andriod/iOS browsers [we aren't building a mobile app now]:

a) Add data forms: contacts, businesses, searches, requests, etc.

b) Import contacts

c) Invite contacts

d) List contacts / list businesses

e) Various inline editing pages for contact/business data

Some things to understand:

the site is in php w/ a Drupal core, but doesn't use many common Drupal modules (doesn't use views/panels in particular, but custom code instead)

the site was created by a back-end developer w/ limited css skills. It uses px, em and % inappropriately and so many pages don't scale well with screen size. fixing these is the bulk of the work

as is common w/ Drupal, the css spans multiple files. there are redundant and overriding styles set in these files some of which need to be consolidated back into the core theme

the theme has some custom javascript to handle different size displays, including replacing menus with dropdowns. HOWEVER: the main menus use javascript and so aren't handled by the theme, I may need to fix this unless the developer knows javascript

there are places where images on buttons do not maintain their aspect ratio as they shrink. to my knowledge, this will require tweaking the php/html. I can do this if the developer tells me what they need and where

there are places in the site (eg, the performance charts) where we may use custom javascript to hide the elements entirely. ie, we are open to not displaying some things on the mobile site.

the developer would need to be comfortable signing an NDA before working on the site
