Overall purpose

The I&C Engineer is responsible for the successful integration of the radio equipment on a mobile telecommunication site. It consists of Outdoor and Indoor sites and includes technologies such as 2G, 3G and 4G. After completion of his work the site should be ready so that the process of taking commercial traffic can be initiated.

Roles & Responsibilities

The I&C Engineer is responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Verification on site that the civil works are ready so that the integration can take place
  • Verify that transmission for the Installed Radio Equipment is ready and validate it by the necessary tests
  • Verify that the configuration files for the Radio Equipment are ready
  • Install and/or validate the installation of the transmission and alarm cable(s) between the Transmission Equipment and the Radio Equipment
  • Check and validate the labeling and marking of all Radio Equipment external cables
  • If applicable, install internal Radio Equipment cabling
  • Check if OMC has contact with the Radio Equipment and perform all alarm checks
  • Clearly report all service and non-service affecting issues on site to the Ericsson OMC so they can document and categorize this in the I&C report.
  • In case of any issues blocking the I&C of the site this must be reported immediately to the Ericsson OMC and involved department so that the necessary actions are triggered
  • When the site is on-line, perform service tests on all sectors. These include among others: Emergency test calls, Video test calls, Data upload and Download tests, Inter-cell handovers,
  • Check and validate Antenna azimuth (bearing)
  • Perform full RF measurements on all sectors, and all technologies
  • Perform RET (Remote Electrical Tilt) tests on all sectors
  • The I&C Engineer will troubleshoot the site if any problems or alarms occur by using all tools and materials at his disposal in close contact with the Ericsson OMC. The purpose is to isolate the problem and solve it the same day. If this is not possible the I&C Engineer must be able to clearly identify the problem (hardware or configuration) and communicate to the Ericsson OMC and the appropriate department.
  • Escalate problems to Project Coordinator/Manager and/or Line Manager
  • Ensure that the sub-contractors' installation staff works according to instructions given by Ericsson
  • Ericsson and customer standards and procedures:
  • Excellent Civil Works 2G, 3G and 4G installation
  • Excellent Antenna & feeder installation
  • Excellent BTS, NodeB and E-NodeB Installation/Integration
  • Excellent TCP/IP knowledge
  • Excellent Microwave Installation and 2Mbit and Ethernet connection
  • Excellent Belgian Safety rules requirements
  • Excellent Acceptance leadership
  • Document preparation and control
  • Excellent Technical knowledge in Power
  • Sub-contractor management
  • Operational rollout experience
  • Climbing certificate compulsory
  • Language: Dutch or French and English communication skills
