This role will be responsible for the maintenance and development of the Technical Compliance Standards. The role supports internal departments in ensuring standards are clear, reviewed, measured and effectively implemented to meet customer and statutory requirements.

The role involves the management of the Factory Technical function, including compliance with internal QMS, compliance with customer codes of practice and managing a team of QA Technologists across all 3 shifts. The role also includes the management and maintenance of Technical Budgets specific to areas of responsibility.

Key Example Duties:
  • To support the implementation and maintenance of the Site Technical and Quality Standards across the site.
  • To manage the Factory Technical Function ensuring:
    • Management of Technical Budgets
    • Working with Operations and Engineering to ensure day to day Technical issues are resolved quickly, effectively and with integrity.
    • Factory Technical Audits are completed to schedule and actions are completed within suitable and agreed timescales.
    • The Factory Technical Team are effectively trained
  • Co ordinate and support resilution of technical / quality issues internally and with customer where appropriate, including complaint investigations and initiatives.
  • Complete technical and management projects
  • Manage and lead a team of x4 QA's to ensure the highest standards of complaince on site


Key deliverables will focus on implementation of systems, accrediations, complaint reduction, internal audit performance and customer audit 'scores'.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have or be able to demonstrate:
  • A degree in Food Technology or a related scientific discipline, backed by proven QA Management / Technical Management Experience
  • Intermediate or Advanced HACCP / Lead Assessor
  • Experience in managing people and improving team performance
  • Clear understanding of retailer standards such as 'M&S Gold' and 'Tesco Green'
  • A proven manager with the ability set and manage priorities and to influence others
