CentreLearn Solutions, LLC, the leading and rapidly expanding online learning management system provider and education content developer for the Emergency Services industry, is seeking a Software Developer for our core Ruby on Rails web application suite (LearnEMS.com and LearnFIRE.com).

A Qualified Candidate Will:
  • Have 5+ years of web development experience including strong skills in Ruby on Rails (3.2+), JavaScript/jQuery/JSON, HTML, and CSS/Sass.
  • Be proficient with Linux environments.
  • Be proficient with SQL databases.
  • Have experience writing web applications that are secure and scalable.
  • Have experience with responsible test-first/behavior-driven development practices in a framework such as Test::Unit or RSpec.
  • Have experience with cloud-based service platforms such as Heroku and Amazon Web Services.
  • Have experience developing web applications targeting mobile devices.
  • Be adept with tools such as Github, Jira, and Basecamp.
  • Be an expert at interacting with non-technical folks.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be comfortable working collaboratively with distributed teams.
  • Have a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline.
  • Have a deep appreciation for beautiful code and elegant technical solutions.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, agile development environment where bloated technical specifications are replaced with rapid iterations and a heavy emphasis on fantastic communication skills.

  • An Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Have hands-on experience writing and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Have experience with PostgreSQL.
  • Contribute to open source projects and participate in technical communities.
  • Have strong UI/UX design skills and experience.
  • Have experience with responsive front-end frameworks such as Twitter Bootstrap and Zurb Foundation.
  • Have experience with Redis and Sidekiq.
  • Have experience automating deployment to a distributed architecture with tools such as Capistrano.
  • Have experience with distributing multimedia/video via content delivery networks.
  • Have experience with e-commerce application development.


  • Job Responsibilities:
  • Work with senior leadership to translate strategic initiatives into formalized product features.
  • Work with staff to translate technical requests into formalized product features.
  • Work with staff to assist with bug identification, reproduction and resolution.
  • Be a core member of our Ruby on Rails development team.
  • Work both independently and as a highly functional part of our core Ruby on Rails development team. Be savvy enough to know when to do which.
