Contract Term

This position closes at 3:00 p.m. on Dec 16th, 2013.

This is a 12 month contract opportunity.

Overview

Reporting to the Application Support Supervisor, the contract resources will be required to develop and support web applications or application components using standard web development tools and technologies.

Primary duties will include:
  • Technical leadership for maintenance or enhancement projects;
  • Analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and support of new applications and/or new application components;
  • Design and development of complex customizations, interfaces, and reports using web development tools and related software;
  • Working with business experts, application users, and IT service providers to investigate and resolve application issues.

Role and Responsibilities

Project Scope and Project Objectives: Contract resources will be assigned as the primary technical resources for maintenance and enhancement requests

Contract resources will be responsible for:
  • Participating in business process re-design, requirements gathering, and/or technical design sessions with key project stakeholders
  • Identifying and communicating potential concerns related to technical design and recommending system approaches or solutions to meet business requirements
  • Solving problems and developing creative solutions
  • Programming new applications and/or new application components using web-based technologies, including system integration and reporting functionality
  • Completing Quality Assurance checks for application changes, testing application changes, and working with clients to achieve sign-off for user acceptance testing
  • Writing technical documentation based on standard processes and templates for Application Development Methodology and Application Support Methodology
  • Investigating and resolving application errors and/or issues reported by application users
  • Sharing knowledge/expertise with team members
  • Providing regular status updates to the team, team leader, project manager, and/or supervisor Deliverables:
  • Design, development, testing, implementation, and support of new applications and/or new functionality using web-based technologies
  • Design, development, testing, implementation, and support of integration and/or reporting components
  • Documentation (business requirements, technical design documents, support model documents, etc.)
  • Knowledge transfer (information sharing with team members and clients)

Qualifications

Required Skills:
  • Proven experience with Oracle 10g (or newer) and PL/SQL (5+ years)
  • Proven experience with Visual Studio and C#.Net (3+ years)
  • Proven experience with ASP.NET, XML, and Javascript (2+ years)
  • Proven experience with design, development, and delivery of online applications
  • Experience developing and supporting system integration and system reporting functionality
  • Strong communication skills (listening, written communication, and verbal communication)
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently Desired Skills:
  • Experience with Python, AJAX, and COM
  • Experience with POSSE 6.x
  • Experience with Tibco Integration
  • Previous work experience with Municipal, other Government Organizations, or equivalent endeavours.
