I am currently working with a client based in Cambridge that are looking to recruit for a Permanent Senior Project Engineer.

The client specialise in the installation of offshore subsea High voltage cables. The client are looking to expand at present and are keen to bring on experienced engineers to continue growing there impressive market reputation.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this aim of this role is to:
1. Provide technical support to the Project Manager(s) for delivery of project. Support may include:
a. Preparation of procedures/technical notes/schedules/spread sheets.
b. Presentation to internal and external personnel on engineering topics.
c. Provision of hand calculations & computational analysis to the project.
d. Management of subcontractors for delivery of technical services.
2. Support and if necessary manage the implementation of new technology to the project, from concept, to build, commissioning, acceptance and use offshore.
3. Act as representative for the company on site, on vessel and other locations.
4. Plan, support and if necessary manage vessel mobilisation operations in UK and foreign quayside facilities.
5. Support the purchasing department with procurement of equipment, including technical alternatives, financial audits and evaluation of proposed solutions.
6. Quality control of subcontractor & consultancy documentation and calculations, including motions, FEA and sea-fastening calculations.
7. Co-ordinate and support Design Engineering team to produce design drawings, storyboards and other mediums for display of technical information.
8. Evaluate and comment on external documents from clients and subcontractors.

Skills
1. Work within a matrix management system, identifying and liaising with individual specialists to ensure work is to the highest standard.
2. Naval Architecture and marine engineering experience an advantage.
3. Strong organisational skills for individual and team work.
4. Strong spread sheet skills required, MS Excel knowledge essential and VBA programming skills an advantage.
5. MathCAD/MatLAB/similar experience an advantage.
6. Good word processing skills essential.
7. Concise reporting ability, recognising critical and superfluous information.
8. Proven ability to work within UK HSE regulations.
9. Subsea cable and/or riser experience and advantage.
10. Rigging design skills an advantage.
11. AutoCAD and Solidworks software experience an advantage.
12. Offshore Medical & wind farm access certification an advantage.
13. Able and capable of working in a different sized teams to deliver projects.
14. Work within a matrix management system, identifying and liaising with individual specialists to ensure work is to the highest standard.
15. Write and implement work plans to deliver Engineering requirements of the project.
16. Familiarity with working with PWBS planning systems an advantage.
17. Experience working on site in team and management roles an advantage.
18. Ability and willingness to produce succinct and clear updates to senior personnel describing personal and team progress, difficulties and risk mitigation measures.
