Thames Water is looking to recruit an experienced Cost Planner to join our Head Office in Reading on an immediate basis for a minimum of 12 weeks. In this key role, you will be helping us provide project control services to our project managers, ensuring full compliance to Thames Water investment programme procedures for the new financial year.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a well established, friendly team, who are a vital part of delivering capital projects for Thames Water customers. By undertaking responsibilities of cost and income monitoring of developer services capital projects, ensuring compliance to all governance rules, and coordinating main laying project delivery you will be enabling continuous service delivery to our customers.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Setting up capital projects, monitoring physical and financial progress of the Thames Water internal system SAP on a monthly basis.
  • Initiate necessary procedures when control dates and costs are about to be breached and close schemes according to processes when completed.
  • Assist the project managers with the preparation of investment committee papers, ensuring submission of data consistent with SAP
  • Produce and maintain cost, revenue and resource plans on SAP in conjunction with the project manager.
  • Ensure that project commissioning and settlement are performed routinely on system.
  • Prepare final account breakdown for rechargeable mains and communicate to customers.
  • Ensure Framework Agreement contract requirements are complete for site starts and delivery for the water main schemes.

To be considered for this role you must have good financial acumen and strong analytical skills, together with high attention to detail and the ability to handle a fair amount of complex data. Project control experience gained in the management of capital projects is advantageous. You will have experience using planning tools, and have excellent experience of Excel and SAP.

We are looking for a candidate who is able to work well under pressure to produce quality reports. Good interpersonal skills are essential as there is a substantial amount of liaison between contractors, project managers and internal and external customers.
