Chase Resourcing in conjunction with our main client in the Information Technology & Finance sector are actively looking to secure the services of a Senior Networks Engineer. This role within the framework of a Multinational Financial Institution is a real opportunity to join one of the fastest growing ICT enterprises in Ireland.

Position Responsibilities/Duties

  • Support the bank’s local and wide-area network during core support hours (08:00 – 18:00 Monday to Friday);
  • Support the bank’s local and wide-area network outside of core support hours (early morning support of Dubai & other offices, UK public holidays, ad-hoc weekends);
  • Provide design solutions to meet the project and ad-hoc requirements of other PD-ISG support and implementation groups;
  • Implement design enhancements over weekends and during other out-of-hours support windows;

  • Ensure all design, implementation, support and maintenance activities adhere to the bank’s system development life cycle;
  • Ensure adherence to the bank’s standards and strategies;
  • Ensure all technical documentation is maintained to an appropriate level and reflects the as-installed environment;
  • Assist in problem determination activities, leveraging the bank’s fault reporting system;
  • Ensure faults reported via the bank’s fault reporting system are monitored, managed and progressed;
  • Ensure faults reported via the bank’s fault reporting system are updated with sufficient narrative to ensure a complete audit trail of a fault’s life-cycle;
  • Ensure alerts generated by the bank’s pro-active monitoring systems are managed and progressed;
  • Ensure carrier maintenance notifications are managed and progressed;
  • Provide support to 1st, 2nd and 3rd level support staff;
  • Be prepared to work unsociable hours and weekends, and be contactable when away from the office;
  • Be prepared to travel to London and other branch sites on a regular basis;
  • Supervise external contractors;
  • Develop technical skills pertinent to role;
  • Provide support and guidance to less experienced and more junior team members;
  • Provide timely progress reporting to the European Network Manager; and,
  • Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the European Network Manager.
  • Real-world experience of implementing and supporting enterprise LAN and WAN solutions from project conception to delivery.
  • Real-world experience of implementing/integrating and supporting enterprise voice solutions in a converged environment.
  • Real-world experience in a similar financial environment.

Certifications

  • Cisco CCNP; and,
  • PRINCE2

Environments

  • Excellent IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of the IPV4 protocol suite, some knowledge of IPV6.
  • In-depth knowledge of and real-world experience with major internet routing protocols; specifically BGP and OSPF;
  • In-depth knowledge of and real-world experience with Cisco IOS configuration;
  • In-depth knowledge of and real-world experience with Cisco SanOS configuration;
  • In-depth knowledge of and real-world experience with Cisco NX-OS configuration;
  • In-depth knowledge of and real-world experience with Cisco 7500, 7200, 3900, 3800, 2900 & 2800 series routers and applicable supervisor modules and line-cards;
  • In-depth knowledge of and real-world experience with Cisco Nexus, 6500, 4500, series switches and applicable supervisor modules and line-cards; and,
  • Excellent network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills.

Other

  • Microsoft Windows 2Kx operating systems installation and support desirable.
  • A dependable self-starter who is able to take action with minimal direction;
  • An individual able to leverage project management methodology’s and effectively manage multiple projects and tasks; and,
  • An individual able to operate at both tactical and strategic levels.
  • An extensive knowledge and proven track-record of voice and data infrastructure technologies within financial institutions.
