Description
JOB DUTIES:- Determine and implement design approaches and parameters and conduct feasibility studies on new designs.
- Responsible for creating and developing product user needs and specifications. Analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests and evaluate the results.
- Advances the state of technology by moving proof-of-concept prototypes to realizable products. Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications, reliability and regulatory requirements.
- Aid in the development process by ensuring designs are cost efficient, manufacturable and reliable.
- May assist in evaluating vendor capability to support development.
- Submit periodic reports on assigned topics to supervisor.
- May interact, telephonically, with customers to resolve product issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2-4 years related design engineering experience.
- B.S. in mechanical engineering or related curriculum.
Masters degree in engineering preferred.
- Must be able to analyze and correct complex product design issues of a moderate scope using independent judgment.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to operate small hand tools (e.g. pliers, screwdrivers, hammer, wrenches, etc.), power tools and test/inspection equipment.
- Demonstrated mechanical/electrical problem solving skills
