Job Description:Overview:
Provide engineering design and analysis expertise and leadership for development of products. This position provides technical design leadership to our in-house efforts as well as leadership to our supply base.
Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering design and analysis support to project teams, system designers, and engineers in making effective design concept selections, specifying products & technology, producing detailed designs, technical reports, analyses, drawings, and leading failure investigations.
- Provide technical oversight of supplier activities to ensure that sound design, and development practices are followed.
- Performs a leadership role in mentoring relationships, developing training courses and plans. Also supports proposal development, discretionary and strategic planning for products.
- Liaise with the marketing department about upgrading the product, failures in service and reducing the cost
- Design products from initial concept stage through to production in a professional and time efficient manner
- Producing 3-D CAD Models and Detail Drawings to provide solutions in accordance with clients' requirements
- Produce technical reports detailing work completed and the products produced. Including but not limited to, engineering calculations, Finite element analysis and CFD
- Assist in the development of company design systems, standards and procedures
- Contribute development ideas for new and existing products
- Support work for proposals and projects working to tight deadlines
- Assist in the preparation of drafting estimates
- Preparation of basic calculations for weld/bolt/member selection using design computer systems and by hand calculation
- Carrying out site and offshore dimensional surveys and preparing detailed survey reports
- Checking of drawings and data
- Ensure compliance with Company Policies and Procedures
- Liaise with Engineers and assists in interpreting project requirements
- Prepare assembly and detailed models by means of either Pro-E or ACAD under direction of the Engineer
- Prepare hydraulic schematics, Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID's)
- Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), by means of EPIM's, under direction of Engineer
- Assist in identifying and ensuring equipment is designed in accordance with the current Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation
- Participate in design reviews where required
- Identify improvements in existing products, procedures and processes and develop cost effective solutions to satisfy customer specifications
Skills/Tools:
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Auto Cad, Microsoft Project.)
- Must be able to interact professionally and effectively with all levels within the organization
- Strong influencing, collaboration and communication skills
- Strong communication skills, including public speaking, listening, negotiation and influencing others with attention to detail and diplomacy.
- Ability to work with multiple work groups and in a team oriented environment.

- Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental management system standards.
- Must have API surface wellhead and flow control equipment knowledge
- Ability to champion initiatives
- Strong technical knowledge in process vessels, tanks & package design
- Working level knowledge of CAD software is desirable
- Experience with applicable codes and standards
- Design experience with complex mechanical and fluid handling systems
- Experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalency
- 5+ years of related experience required, or a combination of education and experience. Associates degree in related field preferred.
